How it Works

1. Inductive Loop: A wire is installed in the pavement, either as a pre-formed loop or cut into the surface.

n

2. Electrical Circuit: The loop and connecting lead-in cable form part of an electrical circuit.

n

3. Vehicle Detection: When a vehicle drives over or stops on the loop, the vehicle’s metal induces eddy currents, which alter the loop’s inductance.

4. Signal to Detector: The detector senses this change in inductance and sends a signal to the gate operator.
