Features & Capabilities of Hikvision  Turbo HD CCTV Camera DVR System 

nHikvision DS-7208HGHI-F1 is the mid-tier Turbo HD DVR of the DS-7200HGHI-F1 Series. We say mid-tier as the recorder sits between the 16-channel Hikvision DS-7216HGHI-F1 and 4-channel Hikvision DS-7204HGHI-F1.  Thus, perfect when your situation needs more than five CCTV cameras but can’t afford to pay for the 16-channel unit.

  Connect up to Ten CCTV Cameras

nAlthough an 8-channel unit, the Hikvision Turbo HD DVR here can connect with up to ten CCTV cameras. The recorder has 8 analog channels compatible with (BNC) HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI, and CVBS cameras. Then, there are also two additional IP channels to connect with PoE/ Ethernet network cameras.

nIf desired, you can switch the eight analog channels for IP standard. Thus, allowing you to connect up to ten network CCTV cameras.

  Amazing  Clarity at 1080p Full HD

nThe DVR is compatible with up to 1080p CCTV cameras, both on the analog and IP channels. However, you’ll notice the video of the  IP network cameras appears slightly clearer and richer in detail. Why’s that?

nA network camera usually sends an encoded digital video, ready for viewing, to the recorder. But analog cameras will send an “analog” video signal, then the DVR will process it into digital format. The “processing” here often results in some image pixels getting lost, whereas the IP camera still has its full details.

  Smooth, Usable Videos for Evidence

nBy default, the Hikvision  Turbo HD DVR encodes the video from the cameras in 720p HD (and other lower resolutions). It’s only when you enable the “1080p Lite mode” the system will be able to process videos in 1080p Lite (960 x 1080p) quality.

nWhile it’s half the normal Full HD resolution, 1080p Lite still packs about 115200 more pixels than the 720p HD. So, a sharp eye may be able to identify the slight difference in the clarity. 
n
nThat said, the digital video recorder offers both the 1080p Lite and 720p resolutions at up to 30fps. The captured video will be smooth (not choppy/ laggy) enough to track every action of the person/ object in motion.

nHikvision DS-7208HGHI-F1 has an RCA audio input to connect with the mic from your analog CCTV camera. The DVR also has an RCA audio output to connect with your external speakers. nIt’s also worth noting the DVR has the advanced H.264+ video compression, which is more efficient than the standard H.264. That is, H.264+ mode can help reduce the storage (and bandwidth) consumption of the connected CCTV cameras.

nHikvision has included the Turbo HD hybrid DVR with VCA (video content analytics) to bring you alerts that matter. The VCA features allow you to set up perimeter protection, with line crossing and intrusion detection, of various CCTV cameras.

nIf you have configured your DVR for remote viewing, you will receive alerts when someone enters these regions. Otherwise, with only local access, the recorder will only push a warning alert on the viewing monitor.
