Mount Where There’s No Power
Dahua DH-IPC-HFW2431DG-4G-SP-LA-B is a solar CCTV camera, which means the built-in lithium battery can recharge from the sun. After doing the CCTV installation, the integrated solar system can be adjusted at different angles to maximize the sun capture.
During days of no sun, when solar panels usually can’t draw energy, the camera has a micro-USB port. In the MicroUSB port, you can connect a standard 5V charger or power bank to recharge the battery. So, the camera is still the best to monitor farms, construction sites, driveways, and other outdoor areas inaccessible to wired power.
Speaking of outdoors, the CCTV camera has a robust build, featuring a metal housing for extra durability. The enclosure of the surveillance camera is also IP67 weather-resistant, where it has the highest protection against dust and heavy rain.

The solar-powered security camera has a 4MP image sensor that captures images at up to 2K Quad-HD (QHD) resolution. QHD resolution is nearly twice the industry-standard 1080p in native resolution. Dahua has designed this video surveillance camera with multiple night vision options: colored and infrared (black & white). In colored night vision, the camera utilizes its built-in white light to illuminate the area. When the night is shining with visible light, the image sensor can capture objects in their true, natural colors.
That said, the 2K HD CCTV camera can only deliver color night vision up to 30 meters (98.4ft). While this is a decent range, the infrared night vision is much better, offering up to 50 meters (164ft) visibility.
Furthermore, the camera has HLC (highlight compensation), BLC (backlight compensation), and WDR (wide dynamic range) to enhance an image in unbalanced lighting conditions. It also has the latest noise reduction technology, 3D-DNR, to minimize the grainy effect when in a low-light condition.

Configure With Wireless or Wired Network
Dahua IPC-HFW2431DG-4G-SP-LA-B is an IP (internet protocol) CCTV camera on both POE and wireless categories. As a wireless camera, it has cellular connectivity that works with all networks. However, you’ll have to purchase a data subscription for the device, which can cost between Ksh 1,000 – 3,000+ a month.
If not ready to pay a cellular subscription, you can configure the CCTV with your home internet through the POE port. POE (power over ethernet) means the camera will be able to send data and get power from the same Cat5 cable.

As a standalone, the Dahua 4G cellular camera can work without connecting to an NVR or Hybrid DVR recorder. The CCTV even has 8GB internal memory and a slot to insert a MicroSD card. Thus, making sure you can save your recordings free of charge.
The camera supports 24/ 7 continuous recording under the “General Mode” and activity recording under “Sleep Mode”. How long you can record in your local storage varies with which of these two modes you’re using.
Moreover, the solar CCTV features both H.264 and H.265 video compression protocols. H.264 codec is the standard compression, with less efficiency but conserves energy. The H.265 codec or HEVC (high-efficiency video coding) has high video encoding efficiency.
The high efficiency in the H.265 codec cuts down storage and bandwidth consumption by over 50%. But, unfortunately, using the camera this way tends to use more power than on the H.264 mode.
