Features & Capabilities of Hikvision Turbo HD CCTV Cameras DVR System
Hikvision DS-7208HQHI-K1 is one of the three Turbo HD CCTV cameras DVRs in the DS-7200HQHI-K1 Series. This makes it a sister to the Hikvision 16-Channel 1080p Turbo DVR (DS-7216HQHI-K1. So, you’ll come to notice the two share quite a lot of features:
-
Connect Analog & IP Network CCTV Cameras
Hikvision Turbo HD DVR is like a hybrid with NVR. The recorder gives you the option to use either analog-only, analog + IP combo, or IP-only CCTV cameras. In the analog-only option, the digital recorder has eight channels compatible with HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI, and CVBS cameras.
For the analog + IP combo, you can combine the DVR with analog and network cameras. You can do all eight analog cameras and two IP cameras (four IP cameras when you enable “Enhanced IP mode”). Or you can switch some of the analog cameras to IP mode and take advantage of its high megapixels.
Alternatively, you can opt for the IP-only mode by switching all the analog channels to use a network CCTV camera. If you use the “Enhanced IP mode” disabled, the maximum number of network cameras you can connect will be ten. Then, with “Enhanced IP mode” enabled, you can hook up to twelve cameras.
Note: Hikvision equipped the 8-channel Turbo HD DVR with only a single LAN/ POE (power over ethernet) port. So, you’ll need an Ethernet network switch to be able to connect all the IP cameras (and perhaps the internet for remote viewing).
-
Monitor in Rich, Crystal-Clear 3K Super-HD
Hikvision Turbo HD DVR is compatible with up to 4MP analog cameras. 4MP has a native resolution of 256 x 1440, which captures images two times clearer than CCTV in Full HD (1080p).
Meanwhile, the IP channels of the digital recorder are compatible with up to 6MP network cameras. And this delivers 3K Super-HD (3072 x 2048), which is about three times clearer than the industry-standard 1080p resolution.
-
Watch the CCTV Cameras on Your 4K TV
Hikvision has equipped the Turbo HD DVR with multiple video output options: HDMI, VGA, and CVBS. Out of the three, HDMI is the only interface that can carry both digital video and audio on a single cable.
Furthermore, the HDMI cable usually delivers a viewing resolution of up to 4K (3840 × 2160). So, you can watch the 6MP IP cameras as wide images in their rich, 3k Super-HD details.
If the monitor you have around only supports VGA, the maximum resolution you can watch your DVR cameras is 1080p. Then the CVBS output has a resolution of 704 x 576 on PA and 704 x 480 with NTSC.
-
Get Video Evidence in Crisp Full HD Resolution
The Hikvision 8-channel recorder records in high resolution of 4MP Lite/ 3MP/ 1080p at 15fps. If you’d like, the CCTV camera system can also do 1080p Lite/ 720p at 30fps, which offers much smoother video.
A “smooth video” in this case means a recording not choppy/ laggy and with every action of a moving object.
-
Save Storage Consumption with HEVC Mode
Hikvision Turbo HD DVR will require a significant amount of storage to save recordings from all the CCTV cameras. How much storage it will use depends on the types of CCTV cameras you’re using. That is, in terms of image quality, with/ without audio, and whether on continuous/ scheduled/ event mode.
Fortunately, the digital recorder supports high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) on H.265, H.265 Pro, and H.265 Pro+. This recording mode often uses more than 50% less storage than when the CCTV is on the standard H.264.
