Features & Capabilities of the Hikvision IP PoE CCTV in Full HD Resolution
Enjoy the CCTV in Full HD Clarity
The 2MP image sensor on board offers the CCTV in Full HD 1080p as the maximum image resolution. However, as an IP network camera, it has a built-in chip to encode/ process a digital video signal before sending it via the data cable. The video more vivid and clearer than a 2MP analog camera that has to process its “analog” video signal in the DVR.
We should also mention this POE CCTV camera is available with either a 2.8mm or 4mm fixed lens. The 2.8mm version has a 132.2° field of view, which will cover a wider area than the 4mm lens (at 107.6°).
Conversely, the 4mm lens will produce a sharper image than the 2.8mm since the image pixels are more closely packed.
Continue to See Farther at Night
Hikvision created DS-2CD1023G0E for 24/ 7 monitoring and security. The 2MP surveillance camera has a built-in 850nm IR LED that allows the image sensor to continue seeing in the darkness. Even though the night vision will be in black and white, it can pick out objects up to 30m (nearly 100ft).
It’s possible to continue watching your CCTV in full color and rich clarity at night as well. But this model doesn’t have built-in white light like the Hikvision ColorVu 4MP (DS-2CD1347G0) Camera. So, you must have a separate source of lighting in the mounting area for the sensor to capture images in color.
Moreover, the 1080p network camera has 3D DNR, BLC (Backlight compensation), HLC (high light compression), and DWDR (digital wide dynamic range). All these features ensure the images are still clear when in unbalanced lighting conditions.
Connect CCTV Camera to Recorder or Router
In an IP POE network camera, the Ethernet (cat5/ cat6) cable to carry video data also provides power. Hence, the reason you may not need to plug the camera into DC power when connected to the recorder. It’s only for a video cable going far will require additional power, which is why we always recommend a professional CCTV installation.
Tip: Besides the NVR (or some DVR), you can also use the POE security camera as a standalone (without a recorder) if with wired internet. In this approach, the camera will also require plugging into 12V DC power to work.
Save Storage Space & Network Bandwidth
The Hikvision network camera supports H.264 and H.265+ video compression/ codec. H.264 is the industry-standard video compression currently. However, the latest H.265 or HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding) protocol has the best video compression efficiency. It (H.265/ H.265+) cuts down down storage and bandwidth usage by more than 50%.
Mount the CCTV in Full Confidence
Should I use the 2MP POE network camera indoors or outdoors? That depends on the individual. Hikvision put together the CCTV with a metal front cover and a sturdy plastic back cover. The camera also has an IP67 weather-resistant rating, which means the highest protection against penetration by dirt and heavy rainfall (submersion up to 1 meter depth).
