Features & Capabilities of the Hikvision Turbo HD CCTV in DVR System
Hikvision DS-7204HGHI-F1 is an excellent choice when looking for a CCTV DVR security system under Ksh 10,000. But even with its small budget, the recorder still packs some amazing features and capabilities:
-
Connect Analog & IP Network CCTV Cameras
Hikvision Turbo HD DVR is a hybrid digital recorder, with support of both analog and IP CCTV cameras. The analog (BNC) video outputs are four, then a single LAN/ Ethernet port.
In the analog video outputs, you can hook up either HDTVI, AHD, CVI, or CVBS cameras. A nice example of the compatible camera is the Hikvision 1080p Analog CCTV Camera.
Meanwhile, the LAN/ Ethernet port on the DVR connects to an IP network CCTV camera. Thus, you get a chance to monitor your home or small business with up to five cameras (4 analogs & 1 IP).
If preferred, you can switch the analog CCTV channels of your recorder for IP cameras. It’s not many people who mention this option. But in the end, it makes it possible to use up to five network cameras instead of analog models.
That said, the LAN/ Ethernet port is one on this 4-channel recorder. So, you’ll have to use a PoE network switch to use two or more IP network cameras.
Note: The Hikvision DS-7204HGHI-F1 doesn’t have “Enhanced IP mode” like in the Hikvision 16-Channel 1080p Turbo HD DVR. That means no chance to double its channels for IP CCTV.
-
Watch Your CCTV in Full HD Resolution
The Hikvision DVR system can connect with up to 1080p security cameras. So, you can stream your CCTV in Full HD (1080p) quality, which usually delivers images 2x clearer than 720p HD.
-
Clear CCTV in Full HD Quality
Originally, this Hikvision Turbo HD recorder was a 1080p Lite mode. While you can stream your 2MP CCTV cameras in full HD, the DVR can record at a maximum 1080p Lite or 720p resolution.
The option to record in 1080p Lite resolution is available when you enable the “1080p Lite mode”. However, a native resolution of 1080p Lite is 960 x 1080, which is fewer image pixels than true 1080p Full HD (1920 x 1080p).
But even at 1080p Lite, the Hikvision recorder supports recording at a frame rate of up to 30fps. So, the videos are very smooth and rich in details of the objects in motion.
-
Connect with HDMI or VGA
The 4-channel digital video recorder has two video outputs: HDMI and VGA. A HDMI cable usually carries a digital signal of both video and audio. Thus, you’ll get to enjoy videos with audio and clearer than when connecting the monitor with a VGA cable.
VGA cable usually can only transmit analog data of just video. That means you must also connect an audio cable from the recorder’s RCA output to the input on the monitor.
-
Storage for CCTV in Full HD
Hikvision has equipped the Turbo HD DVR with a single interface to connect the SATA hard drive for local recording. The interface supports a single hard drive of up to 6TB capacity, which is enough for up to 30-day storage.
Moreover, the CCTV camera recorder has two USB ports at the rear. If the 6TB SATA drive isn’t enough for your needs, you can add a portable hard drive disk on one of the USB ports.
-
Enhance Storage & Remote Viewing
The Hikvision digital recorder supports a video compression/ encoding of up to H.264+ codec. H.264+ is an improvement of the standard H.264 codec. Thus, helps the CCTV cameras record relatively smaller footage files of the same rich quality.
In addition to storage, the advanced H.264+ video encoding helps reduce the bandwidth consumption of your cameras. If you configure the DVR for remote viewing on the mobile app or laptop, it won’t lag your internet as on H.264.
-
Get Alerts that Matter in Real Time
Hikvision Turbo HD recorder has multiple VCA (video content analytics) to help you keep an eye on what matters most. The smart video analytics include perimeter protection, which has Intrusion detection and line crossing detection. So, you get to receive alerts when the CCTV camera captures someone entering where you don’t want them to.
